Breathwork
I offer breathwork sessions based on holotropic breathwork as developed by Stanislav Grof. This method is rooted in transpersonal psychology, and provides a safe and powerful way to explore the depth of our psyche. During these explorations, people often face and release old traumas, and can have a wide range of mystical, spiritual, and bodily experiences, many of them quite unconventional from the perspective of mainstream psychiatry.
A typical breathwork session involves a sitter and a breather, with the breather lying eyes closed on a mattress, while the sitter is holding space. During the two- to three-hour long session, loud and evocative music is playing in the background, while the facilitator(s) keep the space safe and support whatever processes are unfolding, for example through focused energy release (bodywork). At the end of the session, the breather is invited to draw a mandala, which helps with the processing and integration of the experience.
Two types of session are available:
A word of caution:
Because it is often accompanied by strong emotional and psychological experiences, this type of breathwork is not recommended if you have high blood pressure, heart problems, epilepsy, acute psychiatric issues, or if you are pregnant.
